Senior Retirement Program
Retirement! Don't we all look forward to that time in our lives when we can relax and pursue a life of leisure? Adults with developmental disabilities are no different. The ARC of Oswego County has developed a retirement option to insure that their senior years are indeed "golden".

Eligibility:
Individuals with disabilities must reside in Oswego County, and must be 55 years of age or older, or have a health concern which prohibits them from participating in work or other day service programs.

The Staff:
The program is coordinated by caring and experienced professionals who have the support and oversight of an RN. Trained instructors provide individual and small group activities to the Seniors. Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapists are available to assess and treat issues related to the aging process. Staff are able to monitor and deal with medical conditions; and provide personal care assistance when needed.

The Activities:
Some activities are provided in a cheerful, clean and relaxing Senior Center in Fulton, NY. Other activities take place in the community in various settngs. All activities, however, are individualized to meet the preferences, desires, and needs of the Seniors.

These include day trips, daily exercise, cooking, singing, intergenerational exchanges, holiday celebrations, dining out. Additionally, the program offers a Senior Council, which meets monthly to offer ideas and assist in planning activities.

Transportation:
Transportation is provided to the Senior Center free of cost to those participating.

The Senior Retirement Program is committed to insuring individual growth, community participation, and self-fulfillment as those with developmental disabilities age.
